Forage Aid supports its first livestock farm of the winter following a testing summer

Monday, November 26, 2018

Despite the weather challenging many farm businesses over the last 12 months the industry once again came up trumps and Forage Aid were able to source and move a lorry load of forage to the farm to ensure livestock received the feeding required. Working alongside our colleagues at the Addington Fund and Farm Community Network the three charities managed to deliver a solution that will ensure livestock welfare remains intact and gives the business some space to decide what action to take over the longer term.

Forage Aid founder, Andrew Ward, said ‘Once again we find that in the most difficult of times we see farmers helping farmers to ensure that livestock are looked after and farming colleagues are helped. This has been such a challenging year for the whole industry but the response we received to this appeal was encouraging.’

The Trustees of Forage Aid would like to extend a warm thank you to the donor of the forage Tom Sewell from Maidstone, Kent and to Branston Potatoes Limited for providing the haulage to ensure the delivery made it to the farm.

The weather over the last 12 months has provided the entire industry with a real challenge, and there is no doubt that some farm businesses will need support over the winter. Forage Aid take these cases very seriously and are focussed on ensuring animal welfare is maintained at a very high standard. We work closely with our fellow farming charities to ensure we provide the correct support where possible.

Our charity is supported only by donations from supporters. If you are able to offer any donations of forage, fodder or grazing please let us know and we will register that support. We are delighted that we do have numerous offers of transport so we are able to move donations of fodder easily.

If you are unable to donate forage but would like to support us then you will find our Just Giving page here or text your support by sending the message FORA01 followed by the £ sign and the amount you wish to donate to 70070 (e.g FORA01£10 – this would send a £10 donation to Forage Aid).
