Derek Mead Health Room opens

Forage Aid is delighted to see the opening of the Derek Mead Health Room at Sedgemoor Market, Somerset this month.

HRH The Princess Royal opened the Derek Mead Health Room for farmers and agricultural workers in Sedgemoor Market, which was used as a base for the mass evacuation of cattle during the Somerset flooding event of 2014. Within days, donated forage was arriving at the market, with the agreement of Derek Mead and Greenslade Taylor Hunt.

This event helped to highlight the need for all farmers to get physical and mental health checks and advice.

This room and funded nurse is such a positive addition to the market that Forage Aid had the great privilege to work with. The trustees would like to wish all the people involved in the venture the very best of luck and would encourage other counties to look at a similar facility.
